If your pet comes into season (heat), please contact us as soon as possible.

Arrivals & Departures

There are strictly no check-ins or collections on Sundays or bank holiday Mondays. Reception will be closed and only reception can authorise handover of pets. Pets will only be released to the primary owner, secondary owner or emergency contact unless stated in writing by the primary owner.

Check-in: Monday to Saturday from 2:00pm to 5:00pm
Check-out: By 11:00am on the day of departure. After 11:00am, an additional day must be booked.

Vaccinations

Proof of up-to-date vaccinations must be provided. No pet will be accepted without current vaccinations. Kennel cough (dogs) must be included in annual boosters. Pets cannot enter our facility for 14 days after receiving the kennel cough vaccine, as it is live and may affect others. A sub-coat kennel cough vaccination is available at some veterinary practices, as this is under the coat, there is no requirement for the 14 day isolation period.

Breeds such as lurchers, whippets or similar must wear a jacket or specially designed pyjamas, as they are more prone to cuts and injuries due to thin skin.

More vaccination information can be found at: https://www.dspcapethotel.ie/vaccinations

Food & Medication

Pets must arrive with their own food. If forgotten, dry food can be purchased from our shop.

If your pet’s food runs out during their stay, a bag of Purina will be added to your account, payable on or before collection.

All medications must be in their original container with the vet label attached. We cannot administer medication otherwise.

Additional Charges

If your pet becomes unwell or requires medical attention, the DSPCA may seek veterinary services or administer care at the owner’s expense. We will make reasonable efforts to contact the owner beforehand.

Owners are responsible for all additional food, veterinary, or care-related costs while their pet is in our care.

The owner agrees to allow DSPCA staff to share relevant information with veterinary professionals. The DSPCA is not responsible for injury, illness or sudden death during boarding or daycare.

Property

We provide all bedding, bowls, toys, and blankets. Do not bring additional belongings unless medically required and approved in advance by reception.

Using our own items ensures hygiene and reduces the risk of items becoming damaged or lost.

If any belongings are left behind, we will hold them for 48 hours only. The DSPCA is not liable for any loss or damage.

Doggie Daycare Policy

Our daycare provides a stimulating and social environment where dogs can interact with others. While we take every precaution to ensure a safe experience, owners acknowledge that mixing with other dogs may occasionally result in injuries or illness.

-Assessment Period
All dogs must complete a 5-day assessment period before joining daycare, regardless of breed or previous daycare experience. This allows us to ensure each dog is suited to our environment and group setting.

During the assessment, your dog will take part in regular daycare activities but will have a kennel in our hotel to rest and decompress if needed. The five days do not need to be consecutive, but we recommend completing them within one month.

If your dog is absent from daycare for 3 months or more, they must be reassessed before returning.

-Daycare Requirements

  • Dogs over 7 months of age must be neutered or spayed to participate in off-lead socialising

  • Breeds such as lurchers, whippets, or similar must wear jackets or pyjamas due to their sensitive skin

  • Dogs may become dirty as a result of play, socialising, or weather conditions

-Additional Information

  • Late collection after 7:00pm will incur a €10 fee

  • All daycare bookings are non-refundable and non-transferable once confirmed

These policies are in place to protect the health, safety, and enjoyment of all dogs in our care, as well as our staff.

When you return home

Pets may appear more tired than usual due to increased exercise and stimulation. They may also be out of their usual routine.

Please avoid overexertion and continue their usual diet to prevent stomach upset. Contact your vet with any concerns.

As we are located in the Dublin mountains, pets may return dirty due to field walks or wet weather. We recommend flea and tick treatment before boarding. Regular worming is advised for social dogs.

Final note

Booking and delivering your pet to DSPCA Pet Boarding and Daycare constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions.
